Our Brilliant Black Writers Celebration includes plays by many of the most accomplished and respected playwrights from the UK and USA – such as debbie tucker green, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Arinzé Kene, Suzan-Lori Parks, Lynn Nottage, Gbolahan Obisesan, Chinonyerem Odimba, Janice Okoh, Winsome Pinnock and August Wilson – as well as exciting emerging voices. 

October is Black History Month in the UK. This year’s theme, ‘Saluting our Sisters’, pays homage to the exceptional achievements of pioneering Black women, and their contributions to every part of British life.

On our blog, we’re celebrating five fantastic Black women playwrights – four from the UK, plus one from the USA – who rank amongst the very finest in contemporary theatre.
